1. Why is healthy food your passion?
I started to get really interested in nutrition when I lived in Australia. I read a brilliant book that opened my eyes and that’s when the journey started. I saw the impact a change of diet had on me and wanted to share this. This is a big reason why Tim and I decided to launch Bluebell Munch. We know people find it so hard to be healthy when they lead busy lives. A healthy body results in a healthy mind and vice versa. We don’t believe in fad diets. It’s all about good and nutritious food. As our Bluebell Munch mantra goes “Because healthy living is not a diet.”
2. What should everyone be eating more of?
Vegetables and wholesome foods! There are so many processed, high sugar, high salt foods out there. It’s these foods that cause so many dietary, health and weight problems. Get those greens down you! Eat plenty of pulses, fruit (but not too much), nuts and definitely high fibre foods! I also swear by drinking Aloe Vera everyday, kombucha (something I discovered in Australia) and eating sauerkraut. A healthy gut is so important to improve your overall health and wellbeing.
3. What is the best way stay healthy and fit with nutrition?
As I mentioned previously- BALANCE! The other key thing is being organised. I have always been really good at prepping meals for the week as food is my passion and I enjoy it. Make sure you have a well-rounded diet. Keep things exciting and tasty. If you have bland and boring meals you will most likely fall of the wagon. This is why our Bluebell Munch meals are so great as all the meal prep is done and you are ready to go for your everyday life and training!
4. What is your take on fasting?
I have tried a food fast once for 2 days but it was really hard (I just love food too much!) I have read a few articles about it and know there can potentially be good health benefits from doing it. However, you have to be careful if you have any medical conditions, kidney or liver problems, if you are not eating properly before the fast or you are on any medication. I think it very much depends on the individual and if they feel comfortable doing it.
5. What is the best piece of advice you could offer our readers?
Be you and be mindful, be confident, positive and strong! EAT YOUR VEG!! The first and last person you speak to is always yourself, so watch how you talk and be kind to yourself, it will shape your life! If you fall, get back up! Falling over is still moving at least. You’ve got to keep moving (and make sure you throw a little dancing in there). Do everything with a smile on your face, and most definitely always laugh. Laughing is important! Surround yourself with supportive people. The ones that make you feel good about yourself and want to help you and see you be happy, grow and succeed (make sure you give these people plenty of hugs. It will naturally release oxytocin in your body, which will de-stress you and make you feel good). Don’t worry or care about what anyone else thinks. This is your life, live it to the fullest, be happy and enjoy it!
